Cuesta Benberry's Friendship Quilt
1923 - 2007
The late Betty Hagerman, Baldwin City, KS and Helen Ericson, Emporia, KS gathered the blocks from 40 friends across the USA and Canada and put the quilt together. They also quilted the quilt with some help from Chris Wolf Edmonds, Lawrence, KS. It was first on display at the Maple Leaf Festival, Baldwin City, KS in the fall of 1979, then was presented to Cuesta as a surprise.
All blocks quilted in the ditch. Border features 120 hearts and 116 shadow hearts behind them. Landscape is quilted behind "people" blocks, 45-45-90 triangles at 2" intervals behind the flower blocks.
